Launch a Skill
Overview
Launching your Skill on FinChip is a simple process, broken down into four key steps:
- Import
Bring your Skill into the FinChip ecosystem. Whether it's a code package, workflow, or AI model, you will first import the core content of your Skill. - Metadata
Add essential information about your Skill, such as:- ›Skill name
- ›Description
- ›Category or use case
- ›Usage instructions
- ›Pricing details
- ›Supply limits
- ›Creator information (you)
- ›Any other relevant metadata (e.g., licensing terms, access conditions)
- Launch
Define the terms of your Skill launch:- ›Set the price for access to your Skill
- ›Define the maximum number of licenses or forks available
- ›Decide on whether the Skill will be a one-time purchase or if it will be tradable in secondary markets
- ›Select the type of token model (ERC-1155 or ERC-721)
- ›Set the usage limits and licensing terms (e.g., time-limited access, number of users per license, etc.)
- Deploy
Once your Skill is ready, you will deploy it to the blockchain. This will generate a token that represents your Skill and allows users to acquire it.
Choosing a Token Standard
When launching your Skill, you'll need to choose between two token standards: ERC-1155 and ERC-721. The choice between these two depends on how you want to distribute and manage your Skill:
ERC-1155: License Mode
- ›Best for skills that can be sold to multiple users.
- ›Each user who acquires a license will receive a token with the same identifier (token ID = 1).
- ›This model is ideal for Skills that are not unique to a specific user and can be used by many people simultaneously.
ERC-721: Fork Mode
- ›Best for unique Skills or exclusive rights to a Skill.
- ›Each buyer receives a different token (e.g., token ID = 1, 2, 3, etc.), representing a unique version or fork of the original Skill.
- ›This model is suitable for Skills that are customized or personalized to individual users, or when you want to provide limited-edition versions.
Both token standards allow you to retain creator royalties, but the key difference is in how your Skill is distributed: ERC-1155 works well for bulk access, while ERC-721 works better for exclusive or one-off versions of a Skill.
Pricing and Supply
When launching your Skill, you'll set a few important parameters regarding pricing and supply:
Pricing
- ›License Price: Set the price for your Skill's usage, which can be paid upfront by users or Agents acquiring the Skill.
- ›Fork Price: If you are using ERC-721, you will set a price for each fork (unique version) of the Skill.
- ›Creator Royalties: When your Skill is traded on the secondary market, you can set a royalty percentage that you'll receive from each sale. This ensures you continue to benefit as your Skill becomes popular.
Supply and Usage Limits
- ›Max Supply: Set a limit on how many licenses or forks of your Skill will be available. For ERC-1155, this is the number of licenses that can be purchased. For ERC-721, it is the number of unique versions (forks).
- ›Usage Limit: You can specify how many times the Skill can be used. For example, you might limit a Skill to a certain number of activations or restrict its usage to certain devices or accounts.
Creator Revenue
Once your Skill is launched, you will be able to earn revenue in several ways:
1. Primary Sales
Every time a user acquires your Skill, you will earn a percentage of the price. This is the initial sale revenue from your Skill.
2. Secondary Market Royalties
If your Skill is traded on the secondary market (e.g., sold or transferred to another user), you can receive a royalty from each transaction. This ensures you continue to benefit as your Skill gets resold.
3. Pricing Flexibility
You have the ability to adjust the pricing of your Skill at any time, but keep in mind that once your Skill is purchased, users will own the token and can transfer it as they wish. This gives you the ability to respond to market demand and adjust prices accordingly.
FinChip makes it easy to track your earnings and royalties through the platform, allowing you to see how well your Skill is performing and how much revenue you are generating.
