Chains, Wallets, and Payments

Connect Wallet

To interact with FinChip and perform transactions (whether buying Skills, launching your own, or trading them), you need to connect a Web3-compatible wallet. This is how your ownership of Skill Tokens is verified, and your transactions are processed.

1. What is a Web3 Wallet?

A Web3 wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet that allows you to interact with blockchain-based applications. It acts as a bridge between you and the decentralized world, allowing you to manage your assets, sign transactions, and verify ownership on the blockchain.

2. Supported Wallets

  • MetaMask: One of the most popular Ethereum-compatible wallets. MetaMask is easy to use and integrates seamlessly with FinChip.
  • Trust Wallet: Another widely-used wallet, especially popular for Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and other EVM-compatible networks.
  • Coinbase Wallet: Known for its simplicity and integration with Coinbase, making it easy for beginners to enter the crypto space.
  • WalletConnect: A protocol that allows you to connect a variety of mobile wallets (such as Argent, Rainbow, and more) with desktop applications.
  • Other EVM-compatible wallets: FinChip supports most wallets that are compatible with Ethereum and other EVM chains (e.g., MetaMask, Trust Wallet, and more).

3. How to Connect Your Wallet

Connecting your wallet to FinChip is a simple process:

  1. Go to the FinChip platform and click the "Connect Wallet" button, usually found in the top right corner of the page.
  2. Select your wallet from the list of supported options (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, etc.).
  3. Authorize the connection by signing the request in your wallet. This is necessary to allow FinChip to interact with your wallet and verify ownership of Skill Tokens.
  4. Done: Once connected, your wallet address will be visible on FinChip, and you can begin interacting with the platform (browsing Skills, acquiring them, etc.).

4. Why Wallet Connection is Important

  • Ownership Verification: Your wallet proves that you own the Skill Tokens that you acquire or publish on FinChip.
  • Transaction Signing: Every time you make a transaction (like purchasing a Skill or publishing one), you'll need to sign it with your wallet.
  • Security: Connecting a wallet ensures that you have control over your assets, preventing unauthorized transactions.

Security and Privacy Considerations

Security is crucial when interacting with blockchain platforms. Here are some key points to keep in mind:

1. Private Keys and Wallet Security

  • Always ensure your wallet is secure by using hardware wallets or reputable wallet services.
  • Never share your private keys or recovery phrases with anyone.

2. Transaction Verification

  • Before confirming any transaction, always double-check the details, including the address, amount, and fee.

3. Platform Security

  • FinChip uses standard blockchain security measures to ensure that Skill Tokens and creator royalties are safely transacted.

Troubleshooting Gas Fees and Wallet Issues

1. Insufficient Gas Fees

  • If you receive an error indicating that your gas fee is too low, try increasing the gas limit in your wallet, or wait for network congestion to decrease.

2. Failed Transactions

  • Transactions may fail if the network is congested or if the gas fee is too low. Try again later, or adjust the gas fee in your wallet.

3. Wallet Connection Issues

  • Ensure your wallet is properly connected. If you're having issues, try refreshing the page or reconnecting your wallet.
